What is fume hood

A fume hood is a large piece of equipment which is found in every hospital and research centers. It is local ventilation device that is designed to restrain the exposure of hazardous gasses or dust. Fume hood has five enclosing sides and the bottom of the device is mainly located at a standing work height. In the market there are two types of fume hood ducted and recirculating are available. The working strategy of both the model is same, in the ducted model air is drawn from the front side of the device on the other hand in the ductless model air is drawn from the back side of the device. In India, there are many fume hood manufacturers who put their best efforts to make this device more efficient and reliable. Manufacturers designed many shapes and sizes of this device so that user can buy it according to their needs and requirement. The traditional model of a fume hood is available only in few colors and sizes but now a number of varieties are available in fume hoods which protect the user from inhaling impure air and toxic gasses. It is also helpful in explosion protection and blurts out containment.

Usually, fume hood is set back against the room walls and is fitted with infills above, to cover up the exhaust ductwork. Generally, it dims inside because of its shape. In fume hoods, there are so many internal lights with waterproof covers. The window of the device is movable from up and down on counterbalance mechanism. Fume hoods are generally available in five different widths and depths. For the more hazardous material, one enclosed glovebox is used which fully isolates the user from all contact with the work material and tools.
